So many choices
Many people that I have spoken with about retirement say they aren’t sure where they will retire and aren’t sure what they want to do in retirement. Seems like not so many years ago, when people retired they stayed in the home where they raised their children, perhaps played golf or puttered around the house until time came for them to depart this world.
Nowadays, people have many choices and the retirement path is not so clear cut. There are retired people traveling the world, opening new businesses, going back to school and it’s wonderful that retiring doesn’t mean fading into the woodwork. But with all of these choices, how do we go about choosing the most fulfilling path?
For us, in the past we always relied on work to dictate where we were going to live. Good job offer there, off we went. Good offer in the next place, we’ll be right there.
Now we are fortunate enough to be able to retire in a few short years, but we don’t know whether we move abroad, stay where we are and travel a few years, or buy a home near where we currently live.
I don’t know the answer, and suspect we won’t until we actually take some action. We seem to be in the analysis-paralysis phase where every choice seems so great we can’t make a decision about any one choice.

Though for us our place is too small for two people working at home, we are thankful to live near Cherry Creek trail so can get out to nature easily.

There are regular nearby races we get to enjoy like this one just south of us held on the morning of July 4th. I think this is the first time I’ve ever had a race morning beer, but it went so well with the brat, and it was July 4th….
So, for now we wait, and ponder, and travel to places we might want to move, and look at houses on realtor.com. We know we are lucky to have so many choices, we just hope that when the time comes to make a final decision we make the right one for us.
